— WHAT’S a Keynote Concert? —
The message of a keynote.
With the power and emotion of a song.
Because no one ever leaves humming their favorite Powerpoint slide.

Eat the Pie
What a songwriter knows about not waiting to be asked
Great for: women’s leadership conferences · association annual meetings · membership organizations · professional development days · leadership retreats
College gave Erin permission to be a schoolteacher. Children gave her permission to be a mother. When she started writing the songs that fill her two chart-topping records, the only permission she got was her own.
In this keynote concert, Erin goes after excuses one song at a time.
Named after her crowd favorite song, Eat the Pie is Erin giving herself the permission society typically wouldn’t -- to go back as a fully-formed adult woman to compete in her hometown Fourth of July pie-eating contest she had last won at age 12.
As a kid, people called it cute. As an adult…they had follow-up questions.
You don’t need permission to do great things or fun things or interesting things or valuable things. When you’re ready for The Thing, the only permission you need is your own.
Would I let other people’s shoulds and shouldn’ts riddle me with doubt?
Would I give in to what was safe and let the whole world count me out?
From “Eat the Pie”
What your group leaves with:
- How to tell a real decision from a permission problem
- The name of the person whose permission you’ve been waiting for
- Permission to start
- A funny catchphrase for the rest of your event
“A songwriter of the highest order.”

Keynote Concert · Storytelling and Connection
Storytelling for Grown-ups
What a songwriter knows about being listened to
Great for: association and corporate conferences · women’s events · opening and closing sessions · retreats
Every single communication in life can be improved with effective storytelling.
No one knows that better than a chart-topping songwriter whose very livelihood depends on great storytelling.
Not everyone is a songwriter, but everyone can benefit from improved communication.
In this keynote concert, Erin sings a song, and then she shows you the wiring. What she put in, what she left out, and why you leaned forward at the exact moment you did.
All the people you deal with in this world are hoping you’ll be worth listening to. A good story is how you get there.
Erin shares her tools of the trade, so you will be able to:
- Know the one detail that makes a stranger lean in
- Start the story later than you think you should
- Keep the part you’d rather leave out
- Cut the part you’re proudest of
- Stop before you explain what it meant
“Melodic, fresh, and easygoing, with storytelling prowess on full display.”

One Time I Stole a Book
Songs and stories with Erin Ash Sullivan
Great for: libraries · arts series · women’s clubs and membership organizations · community events · luncheons · fundraisers
A concert is an invitation into the artist’s world -- and Erin’s world is a place people tend to like. It’s cozy-with-an-edge. It’s funny-but-sincere. With songs that are personal-and-universal.
The stories and songs range from pretty to peppy, on topics as varied as the stolen book of the title, the dark side of a small town, and a triumphant pie-eating comeback.
Oh, and she sings like a songbird.
“Erin is a delight. Our audience was riveted by her beautiful and memorable songs and stories.”
Scott and Paula Moore, Moore Music House Concerts, MD
It’s a concert that feels like a conversation. And yes, you’ll find out about the book.

Meet Erin Ash Sullivan
For event organizers, Erin brings the purpose of a keynote but with the energy of a concert, with zero tech headaches, canned speaker patter, or awkward trust exercises.
For the people in the room, Erin feels like “your wise and funny friend who happens to be a world-class musician.”
A New England native, Harvard-educated school admin, and an award-winning singer-songwriter, Erin writes from her own life, but the moments are universal: funny, heartfelt, sharply observed, and instantly recognizable.
